Getting from Bangkok Airport to RCA

There is no direct route. RCA is not on a rail line, so every option ends with a road journey — the only question is how much of the trip you spend on a train first. From Suvarnabhumi the Airport Rail Link to Phetchaburi and a short taxi is usually fastest in daytime traffic; late at night, when the roads clear and the train has stopped, a taxi the whole way is simpler and not much slower.

From Suvarnabhumi (BKK)

The Airport Rail Link runs from the basement of the terminal into the city. Ride it to Phetchaburi, which is the nearest station to RCA and also the usual interchange for the MRT, then take a taxi or motorbike for the last stretch.

In daytime traffic this beats a taxi the whole way, sometimes substantially. Late at night, once the link has stopped, take a taxi from the official rank downstairs.

From Don Mueang (DMK)

Don Mueang has no equivalent rail link toward RCA, so a taxi is the straightforward answer. Airport buses run into the city if you are travelling light and unhurried, but they will still leave you with a connection to make.

Arriving late

Flights land at Bangkok's airports around the clock, and arriving after the trains have stopped is normal rather than unlucky. A taxi is then the only sensible option and the roads are at their emptiest, so the ride is quicker than the same trip at 6 PM.

Join the official taxi queue outside the terminal rather than accepting an offer inside it. Ask for the meter. If your phone has data you can use a ride app instead, which removes the negotiation entirely.

Getting data before you leave the airport

Almost everything above works better with a working phone — the ride app, the map, the message to your hotel.
